  18. Turbo Menu combines the best features of existing menu programs into one
  19. easy to use package that is enjoyed by thousands of users each day.  The
  20. following is a brief summary of its features.

  22. Automatic Menu Generation
  23.  
  24.        Turbo Menu's installation program is unrivaled by any other menu
  25.        program.  When it is installed, your hard disk is searched for
  26.        nearly 1000 popular application programs, and menus are
  27.        automatically created.  With this feature, a complete computer
  28.        novice can be up and running with Turbo Menu in a couple of
  29.        minutes with less than 10 keystrokes.

  31. Network Compatibility

  33.        Although Turbo Menu is simple to operate, it is fully compatible
  34.        with all popular networks including NetWare, VINES, 3Com, LAN
  35.        Manager, PC Lan Server, Lantastic and any DOS-based network.

  39.        Turbo Menu now has five levels of passwords:

  41.        1. Separate passwords to select or edit each menu item;

  49.        All of the menus support the use of a mouse.  Simply scroll to
  50.        the item you desire by moving the mouse and click the left mouse

  55.        Turbo Menu supports an unlimited number of sub-menus.  There is
  56.        absolutely no limit to the number of programs or sophistication
  57.        of the menu system you can create with Turbo Menu.

  61.        If you do not like the color choices that come as the defaults
  62.        with Turbo Menu, do not despair.  All colors can be changed as
  63.        you desire.  Five different menu shapes are supported.  Each menu

  66. Flexible Memory Requirements

  68.        Turbo Menu has two functions to reduce memory requirements. It
  69.        operates in both resident and non-resident mode.  Non- resident
  70.        mode uses a batch file to execute your programs. This method uses
  71.        zero additional memory to run your application.  Thus, TSR
  72.        programs such as Sidekick can be run and removed from memory
  73.        within Turbo Menu.  A resident mode is also offered.  This mode
  74.        uses approximately 6K in addition to the memory used by your
  75.        applications.  The advantage to this mode is that it is somewhat
  76.        faster than the non-resident mode. The beauty of Turbo Menu is
  77.        that it can run your programs in either mode simply by changing
  78.        one data field.

  80. Log File and Usage Reports

  82.        If you are curious about how a computer is used during the day,
  83.        Turbo Menu's log feature can provide great insight.  This
  84.        optional function allows you to track computer usage through a
  85.        log file, which is a summary of the date and time each menu item
  86.        was selected.  It also shows the date and time when the
  87.        application exits and Turbo Menu regains control.  Reports can be
  88.        generated which summarize computer use by each menu item per
  89.        month and with an annual summary.  The log file can also be
  90.        commented by the user as a menu item is selected to document
  91.        additional information for client billing or other uses.

  95.        Operation of Turbo Menu does not require paper documenatation due
  96.        to a State-of-the-art Hypertext Help System. It provides a
  97.        detailed reference to all of Turbo Menu's functions.

  99. Scrolling Menu Bars
  100.  
  101.        Each menu item is a separate bar on the menu, and there is always
  102.        one highlighted menu item that is controlled with the arrow keys
  103.        or mouse.  Pressing enter selects the highlighted item.  Each
  104.        menu item also has a Hot Key that can be used to select it
  105.        without using the scrolling menu bar (See Below).

  107. Shortcut Hot Keys

  109.        Turbo Menu uses function keys and keys A-Z as hot keys.  Thus,
  110.        you can execute any of your favorite programs by pressing a
  111.        single key.

  113. Automatically Adjusting Menus

  115.        Turbo Menu is designed so that there are no blank menu items. The
  116.        menus automatically adjust in size depending on the number of
  117.        items.  Many menu programs have 10 options on each menu, and if
  118.        all of them are not used, they remain blank.  Turbo Menu only
  119.        displays menu items that are not blank.  There are 26 possible
  120.        menu items on each menu.  If only the first 17 are being used,
  121.        then the menu only displays 17 menu items.

  125.        As a convenience, the time is always displayed in the upper left
  126.        corner of the screen.  In addition, the time is displayed in the
  127.        scrolling screen protection mode described below.

  129. Flexible Screen Protection

  131.        Monochrome monitors are subject to "burn in" if the same
  132.        characters are left on the screen for an extended period of time.
  133.        To prevent this, Turbo Menu can be configured so that the screen
  134.        blanks after a period of time.  Users can choose from a flashy
  135.        kaleidoscope screen saver or a scrolling text box.

  137. Flexible Hard Disk Parking

  139.        Another problem with letting a computer stand idle, other than
  140.        monitor "burn in," is hard disk corruption.  Turbo Menu can
  141.        alleviate this problem by automatically parking your hard disk so
  142.        the heads are not left above sensitive disk areas while the
  143.        computer stands idle.  A built in hard disk parker can be
  144.        configured to park your hard disk whenever the screen blanks.
  145.        This is purely optional.

  147. Text Editor

  149.        Turbo Menu includes a text editor that can be used to edit batch
  150.        files or any other type of ASCII text file.  The editor is stored
  151.        in a file named COMPED.EXE and can be executed without leaving
  152.        Turbo Menu.  Simply specify the name of the batch file while
  153.        editing a menu item and press F2 to edit.

  155. Directory Utility

  157.        If you cannot remember the name of a file you want to make part
  158.        of your menu, you can use Turbo Menu's scrolling directory
  159.        utility to find the file.  Highlight the file with the mouse or
  160.        arrow keys, press ENTER and the path and file name are
  161.        automatically installed as a menu item.
